A long time ago, a young monk of Ichijouin Temple Yoshichi met a fisherman’s daughter, Osato, and they fell in love with each other. However, he was sent to the battle and was killed. When Osato learned of this, she grieved so much that she took her own life here. The warrior monks who felt sorry for Osato, planted a pine tree and enshrined a Jizo Bodhisattva for mourning. The pine tree died, but the Jizo statue is believed to be still watching over Osato.
