Tomb of the Feudal Lord

殿様墓c.jpg

Tombs of Ikeda Teruzumi and wife, Tenshouin. Teruzumi was a grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu (founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate in Edo Period). Teruzumi became a feudal lord, governing western Hyogo Prefecture, but he died in disgrace for not being able to stop the infighting of his retainers. Therefore, his son Koukan, who was the top monk of Daisenji Temple in the late 17th Century, built these tombs to comfort the souls of his parents.
